Desperate people do desperate things to survive.

If you are spending time lecturing them and punishing them, then you have the time to help them. Each case of poverty, drug addiction, mental illness, and every person out there are all individual people who deserve individual assistance. Take the shame out of the game. We need to stop trying to force a sterile, one-way way of doing things onto everyone and simply help them out of the fucking gutter. Give them the most basic of dignified assistance that you can. But do not stop there. Provide a true roadway. A true pathway to the next step up … all the way to housing and employment, to full independence, for some who may have never been able to achieve it without help.
