the worker then proceeded to also see that they didn’t apply the self-employment standard deduction offset to the CalFresh equation and that I should be getting more in food assistance and not less … and that my IRT (reporting threshold) has also gone up! I’ll now be getting $299 per month for food assistance and a new IRT of $1,729 🙂 maybe the system isn’t completely broken … but it sure feels fishy that the errors always fall in their favor … until you call them on it 🤔 and what if I never said anything? … what if I wasn’t capable of speaking up for myself? I’d be struggling to figure out how to make $87 work every month … like so many other poor people out there that are dealing with this bureaucracy …
